Beauty Battle: Battle of the Concealers

If you're like me, you can't live without a concealer. Now I've spent a lot of money trying to find the best concealer to discover that actually the more affordable brands actually offer the best concealers. 

So here is the second battle of the beauty products (See the first battle here)

It's the battle of the concealers!

MUA's Cover & Conceal versus Collection's Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer

Let the battle begin!

Collection concealer

Pros:

• Affordable (Usually £4.99)
• Easy to apply with the doe foot applicator
• Extremely good coverage
• Easy to blend
• Stays for a good amount of wear (Claims 16 hours)
• Product lasts a long time (Get a lot of usage)
• Great shade range for those with pale skin

Cons:

• Can sometimes be drying
• No shades for darker skin colours
• The packaging is annoying as the writing rubs off
• Can occasionally settle into fine lines

MUA Concealer

Pros:

• Incredibly affordable at a wallet-friendly £1.50!
• Not drying at all
• Good wear
• Nice consistency
• Blends even easier than the Collection one

Cons:

• Not many shades available (Even less than the Collection one)
• Not as good a coverage
• Can settle into fine lines
• Packaging looks a little too cheap

The Final Verdict:

I think it's safe to say that both concealers have their pros and cons and overall they are both great beauty products. However for me, the Collection concealer has won this battle! The main aim of a concealer for me is to conceal! For me, the Collection one conceals better on my dark undereye circles however, the MUA one is brilliant for spots!

Beauty Bite: Barry M Concealer Brush

I never knew Barry M did brushes?! It wasn't until I had some spare time and wandered into my nearest Superdrug that I discovered their brushes! The one I bought and have chose to review for you is their concealer brush.

 So this brush was selling for £2.99 which I thought was an absolute bargain! For this price for a Barry M product, I just couldn't leave it there.

I used this brush when applying my concealer (which is my Collection [2000] Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear concealer in the shade Fair 1) and I found it did an okay job. I'm not going to rave about it and tell you to stock up on this brush, but I'd say for a beginner or as a spare/handy brush, it does a good job! I will admit I had a few streak marks when I added another layer of concealer because the brush started soaking up all the product. The first layer was okay but not much came off the brush! A good point is that so far it hasn't shed and it's not scratchy! I found it difficult to clean though :(

Overall I'd say this is a useful brush and is great for beginners! For those of you who have been wearing make-up for a while and a little more experienced, this may not be for you. I will continue to use this but it won't be an everyday use.

I'd say give it a go if you're on a budget or a beginner.

Beauty Bite: My Handbag Must-Haves all under £5!

Here are my essential products that I carry around in my bag all the time!

 

 So these are anti-bacterial wipes, intended for kids but hey, I'm a big kid haha. These are perfect for a quick way of washing your hands and removing dirt so when you're in need and have mucky hands with no water around, these are handy! (Get it?)
 

 Now these are one of my bargain finds! At home bargains (Where you find bargains) I found these tissues for only 12p! They're useful, small enough to keep in your bag and have such cute packaging!

 This is one of the most important things in my bag. I adore Vaseline! Especially this aloe vera one and the rosy lips one but the rosy one was battered and didn't look too good in the photo, but it's definately a favourite!

These I found at my local 99p store for (you guessed it) 99p. You get 2 hand sanitisers for 99p and I chose these ones in the scent of lime and coriander. They definately leave your hand feeling clean and fresh but still keeping the moisture in! Another good way of cleaning your hands!

 

 A mirror for those days when you need a bit of a touch up! This one came with a powder brush at the 99p store but the brush wasn't too nice so we'll stick with the mirror!

Body spray is always a must for me! Here's one of my favourites from So...? which is an amazing brand! Love them all! This one is So...? Sinful.

 

 

Concealer, for those days when your bags are looking bad, you're having a bad skin day or generally just need a touch up. Now I have to favourites! I have the Collection (2000) Lasting perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in Light 1 and Light 2 and also MUA's Cover and Conceal.

 

 

I tend not to keep lipsticks in my bag unless I'm wearing one that day as I tend to get dry lips and lipstick and dry lips don't go too well together! So I use MUA's Power Pout in the shade 'Brokenhearted' which is great as it gives such a good bright colour but also moisturises your lips!

Beauty Bite: ELF's All Over Cover Stick in the Shade Ivory

 

Now here's a product that immediately caught my eye online! So much that I bought 2! This is something I've been trying for a while now, but to be honest, I'm not all that keen on it. It's the ELF All Over Cover Stick in the shade 'Ivory'. I will admit the price of it is pretty good as it's only £1.50 because it's from their original line. But was it worth buying? I'm not entirely sure yet.

 

It might be due to the shade I picked as I thought that the shade Ivory would be a lighter white/cream sort of shade like it appeared online. However as you can see, it comes out a lot more yellow than expected. At first I thought that it being yellow, it would work well to cancel out my dark circles under my eyes. It did that actually and had quite good coverage, but it just appeared yellow/orange under my eyes and looked as if I had bruising...not quite the look I was going for!

The packaging is quite cute, it's small and easy to put in your bag as it doesn't take up much room, but it was a lot smaller than I expected! The consistency of it isn't actually that nice. It's kind of sticky and greasy which makes it really hard to apply and blend out. It also tends to crease and clings to dry skin and settles in fine lines. Plus, it can be quite drying itself and if you apply too much, can look cakey. However, the smell of the product is quite pleasant, sort of a citrus/orange smell which isn't too bad. It also didn't make me break out which is always a plus!

 

Overall, I think for the price you pay for it, it's an okay product but I wouldn't say it's brilliant. Maybe I just need to buy a different shade and I might change my mind slightly? I've heard quite a few people like it, but I was slightly disappointed. If anyone else has used this please let me know, would love to hear what you think! :)
